Loughborough Amherst School

Miss Winton from Loughborough Amherst School was delighted to share her first story sack with our Watermead Pre-School children. Everyone involved thoroughly enjoyed the session, it was based on the lovely book ‘Not Now Bernard’ by David McKee. We focussed on the sounds of letters (phonics), name writing, we made play dough food for the monster and we made monster masks.

If you would like to continue the fun at home you can play ‘I Spy’ on car journeys, this helps to encourage your child to use the correct initial sound.

Another fun game is spotting the letters in your child’s name when you are out and about, such as at the supermarket or when looking at newspaper headlines.

Tidying up toys can also be made into a phonics game by suggesting putting away all the toys beginning with a certain sound first.

We would like to thanks Miss Winton for a very fun and interactive session.
